Hi Nizamuddin,

Thanks for your suggestion. We will consider this feature in a future version of ChartDirector.

For your information, many of our customers are currently using ChartDirector to insert vector or raster images in PDF documents.

It is uncommon for people to want to save the chart in PDF per se. Usually, our customers would like to include the chart in a PDF document (such as a PDF report), in which the chart is only part of the contents.

It is like including a chart in HTML. The chart itself is not saved as "HTML" (it is saved as an image), but it can be included in an HTML web page. Similarly, a chart can be included in a PDF document.

To create a PDF document, you would need to have a PDF generation tool. ChartDirectof can output charts in PNG, JPG, GIF, BMP and SVG. Most PDF tools can accept at least one of the above formats as contents in PDF. For vector graphics, some PDF generation tools do not support SVG directly, but can support other vector formats convertible from SVG (in this case a conversion tool is needed).

Hope this can help.

Regards
Peter Kwan

Thank for the information. As you are aware, some of your users inserting raster formats information would prefer to embed vector-based stuff because of fonts. Since SVG support in pdf is fragile and limited - to say the least - it would certainly be nice to get alternative propositions to incorporate Chartdirect-boiled vector-based content into PDF. But alternatives are limited as well.

Delivering oldish an proprietary EMF format would help but that's certainly on your to-do list. I just hope we can hear from Adobe on that subject...
