license question |

Hello,
I downloaded the COM demo recently and created an app to see what features were available and how to use them. I went to the trouble to develop an app that actually solved a problem I often face. Now I want to get rid of the watermark on my plots and redistribute the app. At first it will be used by 6-8 folks in my company but later we may want to offer it for sale. So it is now time to make a purchase. I have read the Licensing FAQ but still have a few questions.
The dev license is a bit confusing for me. I was able to develop my app using the demo version. Do I need a dev license? I was thinking that I needed a Redistribute license and that after purchase and registration, the watermarks on plots would disappear. But the language below (from the FAQ) makes me wonder.
===============================================================
Note that the ChartDirector Redistribute License is for the ChartDirector runtime only and is not for ChartDirector development use. Each computer that performs development using ChartDirector still needs a ChartDirector Developer License.
===============================================================
From the language above it sounds like there are circumstances where just a Dev license would suffice but no circumstances where just a Redist license would suffice. (That is, in order to produce something to redistribute a dev license is required.) Is this a correct interpretation?
Is the demo version limited in some way? I was assuming that it was not and that the watermark was merely the means of identifying unlicensed plots.
Finally I may want the option of using the C++ flavor of Chart Director as well as the COM/VB6 flavor. It appears that the various flavors are sold individually. Is this correct? |
