Hi Premila,

I am not too sure what is the "the horizontal width & vertical width between the layers" you are referring to. Would you mind to clarify?

For your attached chart, the only think abnormal I can see is that there are some empty space at the bottom of the plot area. It is probably because you have put a lot of empty bars and/or empty labels at the bottom.

For example, your code may have declared an array that contains 30 elements, but then use only the elements 0 - 17. In this case, the other elements (18 - 29) will be empty. This is represented on the chart as an empty region.

If you do not want to have the empty region, please declared the array to contain 18 elements, not 30 elements.

The vertical distance between the bars are determined by your plot area height, and the number of bars (including empty bars). For example, if your plot area height is 300 pixels, and you have 30 bars, the bars will be 10 pixels apart. To change the bar vertical distance, you may increase the plot area height or reduce the number of bars (say change from 30 bars to 18 bars by removing empty bars).

If you need further help, may be you can provide an example chart to help me understand what you need, and inform me of your charting code, so I may understand how your chart is configured and the programming language and development framework you are using.
