What version of Chart Director is required for UTF-8?
Posted by Tyler on Sep-08-2010 03:22

Currently using 4.1.  When I try to display high unicode characters (like cyrillic) chart
director produces "dots" instead of characters.

I assume I don't have the "right" version of chart director for this feature.  Is this correct?

Thanks

Tyler

So, I've been digging more.  It seems likely that I lack the font required to render these
images.

Freebsd version of chart director.  I assume this means I need to find a PCF formatted
japanese language font.

Is this correct?

Thanks

Tyler

Hi Tyler,

You can use any True Type Font (ttf or ttc) that contains the characters you need.

In the past, I have tried to use the Cyberbit font for testing. It is a font from BitStream included with the free of charge Netscape browser, and it includes Japanese characters. If you use Google to search for "Netscape Cyberbit", you can still find a lot of places where you can download the Cyberbit font. Please make sure you read the license agreement included in the font to understand how you can use the font.

Hope this can help.
