Installing ASP version on 64 bit machine
Posted by Martin Halford on Sep-05-2011 16:35
Hi there,

we're upgrading our hosting from a 32 bit to a 64 bit machine, and we're currently using ASP (Classic) to generate our charts... Will there be any issues with the software?

Will we have to use the 64 bit version and start using .net?

Many thanks for your help,
Martin

Hi Martin,

The latest version of "ChartDirector for ASP/COM/VB" works on both 32-bit and 64-bit machine, and it works with IIS in both 32-bit mode and 64-bit mode. We are not aware of any issue specific to using the latest version of "ChartDirector for ASP/COM/'VB" on 64-bit Windows.

Note that you would need to install ChartDirector for ASP/COM/VB in your 64-bit host. This is by running the installer "chartdir_com.exe", which will automatically install and register ChartDirector with your machine.

If you do not want to run the installer in your host, but perfer to copy the DLLs to your host and register it manually, you would need to use the regdll.bat file included in the ChartDirector distribution to register the ChartDirector DLLs with the host for both 32-bit and 64-bit operations.

Hope this can help.
