Adding some additionnal "business graphics" 3-D |

Hi,
As a long-time user of Chartdirector, I learned to appreciate how smart the API is!, I'd be glad to see additions brought to the product in the "business graphics" 3-D area.
I do mean the kind of R&D 3D that was brought to the product recently but down-to-earth plots usable in business situations...
What would really be great IMVVVHO is the following. Have a Z dimension available on all base graphs where this is possible.
Not meaning 3D as cosmetic enhancement but as a mean to convey additional information in a simple way.
Samples of what I'd love to find in coming versions of Chartdir:
-Line charts (see attachment),
-Bar charts (see attachment),
Last but not least,
-Box-and-whiskers as well (can not find decent samples on the Web but that can be easily derived from the two previous samples...).
No hurry of course. We are so glad you push on the good work and keep the whole product and API tidy on so many platforms...

Hi Daniel,
ChartDirector can in fact produced similar charts using 3D layers, but the 3D projection method is different. See the second chart to the left on:
http://www.advsofteng.com/gallery_bar.html
and also:
http://www.advsofteng.com/gallery_area.html
The example above are multiple 3D layers. You may also use multiple 2D layers but with a 3D gap, configured using Layer.set3D.
For XYChart layers, ChartDirector uses "oblique projection" instead of "isometric projection". Isometric projection is already in our wish list as a future ChartDirector feature.
