Chart Director seems "stuck" at 7.1 Do you have any plans for support of mapping, for example? What other developments are in the works?

Hi Roger,
By "mapping", do you mean to draw geographic maps like Google Maps?
Geographic information system is a profession of its own, and it uses specialized GIS file format and requires specialized software.
If you mean to "annotate" an existing map, then ChartDirector can already do it by overlaying a semi-transparent chart over the map. For example, given a map as an image, you can overlay a semi-transparent contour plot over the map to show the rainfall or wind strength or other parameters on the map. Given a map of a city composes with multiple districts, you can ask program ChartDirector to color the districts based on certain parameters (such as which party wins the regional election, or the population density of the district) or to add labels to the districts to display information.
The following are some posts from people that did something similar:

Regarding ChartDirector 8.0, we feel that we have already supported most of the common chart types. So ChartDirector 8.0 will be more about user interactions with charts. We plan to make certain chart interactions built-in, such as to make 3D charts automatically rotatable, and XY charts automatically zoomable/scrollable. (These features are already supported in current ChartDirector but requires extra coding written by the programmer.) Similarly, there will be some built-in programmable track cursor styles. There will also be support for user interactive annotations (such as to draw a "support" line in a financial chart or to add labels to the chart interactively).
Best Regards
