Quite a number of our customers are using ChartDirector for Python in widget based applications.
Basically, ChartDirector can create charts in PNG, JPG, GIF, BMP and SVG formats, both in memory and as an image file. The charts can then be displayed in a widget. (Most widget frameworks would have a widget that can display PNG, JPG, GIF, BMP or SVG. All widget frameworks can display mage files and some widget frameworks can also display images in memory.)
