Hi Joshua,

Yes. We will definitely support Perl 5.18.

We have already compiled some Perl 5.18 interpreters ourselves for testing, but we think it is better to test ChartDirector on some well-accepted pre-compiled Perl 5.18 interpreters (such as those from ActiveState or that comes with various Linux/FreeBSD/Solaris/Mac OS X distributions) before releasing it.

However, at the time of this writing, I am not aware of any pre-compiled Perl 5.18 interpreters available except the Strawberry Perl on Windows. We plan to wait until at least the ActiveState Perl 5.18 is available, or if any Linux distribution includes Perl 5.18, so that at least we have some independently compiled Perl 5.18 interpreters to test against.

If you need Perl 5.18 support immediately, please let me know the OS edition of ChartDirector you would like to use. I can send you a version of ChartDirector that has been tested with our own Perl 5.18 interpreters.

Regards
Peter Kwan

That's fantastic!

If you have a version built for 64-bit Linux, that'd be swell if you could forward it to me
(we're not using 5.18 in production, but I am testing it out locally).

Otherwise, it's not critical.

Thanks!

Hi Joshua,

You may download the updated ChartDirector for Perl for Linux (x86_64) with Perl 5.18 support from:

http://www.advsofteng.com/chartdir_perl_linux_64.tar.gz

Hope this can help.
