  ASP.NET 4.0 License
Posted by Mauro on Jan-07-2015 05:01
Hello, we have the licensed netchartdir.dll version 5.1.1.
It was running without problems on a web site ASP.NET 2.0.
Since we updated ASP.NET version to 4.0, the graphics have been showing the
Unregistered yellow banner.
We should update the chartdirector version? Or change the .lic location? (it's in bin
directory of the web app)

Thanks.-

Mauro

Hi Mauro,

ChartDirector 5.1.1 license should work with all .NET versions. The license installation
method is the same. The details are in the Installation section of the ChartDirector
documentation. There is also some brief instructions at:

http://www.advsofteng.com/license_install.html

If the above still cannot disable the yellow banner, you may try the license diagnostic
procedure in http://www.advsofteng.com/license_diag.html

If the license diagnostic procedure still does not solve the problem, please email me
(pkwan@advsofteng.net) your license file, and also include the result of the "cdinfo.aspx"
test as mentioned in the license diagnostic procedure.

Thanks Peter, this is what I have in the web server.

An ASP.NET 2.0 web site using chartdir.dll version 4.0.7.0 working well.
Another ASP.NET 4.0 web site using chartdir.dll version 5.1.1.0 not working (yellow
banner).
Both web sites have the same .lic file in their bin folder.

What is wrong?

Hi Mauro,

There are many possible reasons. For example, the security settings of the two sites may
be different so that in the second site, the ASP.NET system (usually running under a special
account representing the anonymous user) is unable to read the file. Another possibility is
that the license key was issued long time ago for an old version of ChartDirector, and so
can no longer be used with ChartDirector 5.x. In this case, an upgrade may be required. The
cdinfo.aspx test as mentioned in the license diagnostic procedure below will display the
exact cause of the problem:

http://www.advsofteng.com/license_diag.html

You can also email the license file "chartdir.lic" to me to confirm the issue date and version
of the license key. My email address is pkwan@advsofteng.net
