add scatter plot to bar chart

hi,
I have bar chart. Each bar is an average.

Is there a way to overlay a scatter plot on top of each bar, to see where each individual data point lies, that made up the average.

For example, see the attached chart.

Thanks!

Hi Dave,

Attached please find an example I wrote sometime ago for my other customer. It uses a box-whisker chart to plot the average/high/low/1st quartile/3rd quartile. The data points are plotted using a random x coordinate distributed between +/- 0.5 from the center of the boxes.

For your case, I am not sure how you determine the x coordinate of your scatter data. If you do not have an x coordinate, and if there are only a few points, you may consider to just plot them along the vertical center of the bars, or you may just use random x coordinate +/- 0.5 from the bar center. For your information, the x-coordinate of the center of the bars are 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, ...... (that is, the leftmost bar is at x = 0, the next bar is x = 1, ...).

Best Regards
Peter Kwan
