  Does my license cover subdomains?
Posted by Paul Huffman on Jan-02-2026 04:25
I got called back from retirement by my old fisheries agency to debug my old PHP website.  I thought the problem was a date limit on user input that needed to be extended,  but found out that a form was using magic_quotes which was depreciated a few PHP versions ago.

I got that form rewritten,  but then thought I should upgrade PHP for the site.  I could copy the whole site to a subdomain, then try running PHP upgrades stepwise on the subdomain, look for errors,  then copy the patched site back to the production subdomain.  It’s running PHP 8.1 now. Trying to get to PHP 8.5.

Does my Chart Director license cover subdomains?  Will my license cover me to PHP 8.5?

Hi Paul,

The ChartDirector license is based on the number of computers/servers that have ChartDirector installed. You can have as many subdomains as you like provided they are on the hosted on the same computer/server.

From our record, your license is valid for the latest version of ChartDirector, which supports PHP 8.5.

Should you need further information, please feel free to contact me.

Best Regards
Peter Kwan
